Read our CEO's article for Schools Week magazine about the importance of belonging.

We know a child's attainment. We know a child's attendance. We know their behaviour data. But do we know what makes them tick?

That’s one of the questions at the heart of a new Schools Week article by our CEO, Charlotte Blanch.

In education, data matters. It helps us identify need, measure progress and understand where additional support might be required.

But data can only ever tell us part of a child’s story.

If we really want every pupil to flourish, we need to know the child behind the data.

    - What are they interested in?
    - What are they good at?
    - Where do they feel successful?
    - What barriers might they be facing?
    - And what could we do differently to help them feel that they belong and have something valuable to contribute?

At Little Way Catholic Educational Trust, these questions are shaping the way we think about pupil progress, behaviour, inclusion, early intervention and nurture across our schools.

Because sometimes the thing that makes the greatest difference to a child isn’t another programme or intervention.

    It’s being known.

    Being valued.

And knowing that you truly matter and have something to contribute.

In her article, Charlotte shares some of the practical ways our schools are trying to make that belief part of everyday school life.
